About

French born Christophe Morgeau is a Master Blacksmith who has worked extensively with metal, both abroad and locally, for over 20 years.  Combining his remarkable creative talents with traditional blacksmith and metalwork skills, The Anvil Workshop prides itself on the production of original designs using quality workmanship.   Christophe’s unique sculptural style, incredible versatility and expertise enables him to produce one off designs that are of an extremely high standard, creating a demand for his superb craftsmanship of functional, decorative pieces.

Prior to establishing his own business in 1994, Christophe trained and worked extensively in France, specializing in traditional French styles ranging from Louis XV to Napoleon periods.  After moving to Australia in 1993, Christophe continued his blacksmith trade, working alongside the highly acclaimed glass artist and metalwork designer, Mark Douglas.

Over the years, Christophe has exhibited many pieces in group shows at various Melbourne locations such as Global Village, Kirkcaldy Davies Galleries and Qdos Gallery in Lorne.  These exhibitions featured limited edition wrought iron pieces incorporating slumped glass, wood and mosaic work.  Christophe’s talented Parisian style has created a demand for one-off designs, commissioned work and limited edition pieces.

Christophe continues to work with high profile, Melbourne and Geelong based architects, interior and landscape designers. His work ranges from smaller, elegant interior pieces including tables, mirrors, standing and ceiling lights, to larger exterior works such as gates, balustrades, canopies and out door sculpture.
